Frequently asked questions

The things people ask most often. If you don't see your question here, email support@master-setter.com and a real human will get back to you.

Getting started

What is Master Setter?

Master Setter is a Pokémon TCG collection tracker. Browse every set in every language, mark cards as owned (with variant counts), build custom binders, follow other collectors, and watch your set completion percentages climb in real time. Built by a collector, for collectors.

Do I need an account?

You can browse anonymously and your collection will save locally to your browser. To sync across devices, see other trainers' binders, build custom collections, or upgrade to Pro, you'll need a free account.

What’s a Master Set?

A Master Set is the canonical “own one of every card in a set” goal. Master Setter lets you configure exactly what counts toward your Master — which languages, which variants, and whether jumbo cards are included. See the Primer for the deeper background.

Collecting and variants

What’s the difference between Master and Grandmaster mode?

Master mode counts a card as collected if you own any variant of it. One copy of a card, any print, satisfies the Master. Grandmaster mode requires every variant of every card — Normal, Reverse Holo, patterns, stamps, and so on. You can switch modes in Settings; progress bars update immediately.

What are the colored pips on each card?

Pips are the small dots in the top-right of each card thumbnail. Each pip is a variant — Normal, Reverse Holo, special holo patterns, stamps, and so on. Click a pip to increment your count for that specific variant; right-click (or long-press on touch) to decrement. Color tells you which variant a pip represents; a checkmark means owned, a count means multiple, an outlined empty pip means needed.

Which languages are supported?

English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Dutch, Polish, Russian, Indonesian, and Thai. English is the deepest and best-supported; other languages are continuously backfilled and may have gaps in older sets. If you spot missing data, email support@master-setter.com and we'll prioritize it.

Custom binders

What’s a custom binder?

A binder you build yourself, with any cards from any set. Drag and drop pages to reorder them, set a cover card, make it public or keep it private. Great for theme collections — every Charizard, every Yuka Morii illustration, your “to find” list, or anything else.

How do I share a binder?

Open the binder, click the gear icon in the header, and toggle it public. You'll get a shareable link of the form /u/[username]/[binder-slug]. Public binders can be featured on your profile and surface on the Master Setter homepage discovery carousel.

Can I follow other collectors?

Yes. Click a username anywhere in the app to visit their profile, then Follow. Their featured binders and recent activity appear in your /following feed.

Free vs Pro

What’s included in Free?

Browse every set, track your collection, build custom binders, and follow other collectors — all on the house. Free accounts are capped at 1,000 cards across your collection and limited to English-language tracking.

What does Pro unlock?

Pro is $4.99/month and unlocks:

  • Unlimited card tracking (Free caps at 1,000 cards)
  • Photo OCR card import — point your camera at a binder page
  • PDF binder printing (placeholders, trade lists, checklists)
  • Pro-only Pokéball themes (Quick, Love, Luxury, Dusk, Net, Beast, Master Ball)
  • Historical collection value charting
  • Priority on user-reported data fixes

How do I upgrade to Pro?

Visit the upgrade page or click the Upgrade button in Settings. You'll be redirected to Stripe Checkout. After payment your account upgrades immediately.

Account and billing

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Go to Settings and click “Manage Subscription.” That opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel, update payment, or change plan. You keep Pro access through the end of the period you paid for; after that your account downgrades to Free.

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in screen, click “Forgot password.” You'll get a reset email from Supabase Auth. Check spam if it doesn't arrive in a couple minutes.

How do I delete my account?

Email support@master-setter.com from the address on your account. We'll permanently delete your account and all associated data (collection, profile, binders) within 30 days.

What’s your refund policy?

7-day money-back guarantee on your first Pro subscription. If you're not satisfied within 7 days of your initial purchase, email support and we'll refund and downgrade you to Free. Outside of that window, monthly subs are non-refundable, but you can cancel at any time to prevent future billing. See the full Terms of Service for details.

Card data and prices

Where do card prices come from?

Prices are pulled from public data sources (Pokémon TCG API, TCGCSV, and others) and reflect recent average sale prices, not specific listings. Treat them as ballpark numbers, not what any specific buyer will pay. We don't do appraisals.

Why is some data missing on older or non-English sets?

The card data ecosystem is patchy for older sets and non-English languages — community databases have gaps. We're actively backfilling, especially Japanese and Chinese. If a specific set looks broken or incomplete, email us and we'll prioritize it.

I found a card that’s missing or labeled wrong. Now what?

Email support@master-setter.com with the set name, card number, and what’s wrong. User reports speed up the backlog significantly.
